As a clinical psychologist,
I’ve worked with countless people struggling with
depression and helped them restore some semblance of well-being.
Although yoga is first and foremost a path to spiritual
awakening, it also has a lot to offer anyone struggling
with emotional issues and can be used to complement psychotherapy.
Yoga has helped me recover from physical injuries and stress
related ailments. It has brought relief from insomnia,
fatigue, anxiety, grief, low mood, and chronic pain. |
In this two-part workshop John will guide you through sequences of active and restorative postures and breathing techniques developed by Patricia Walden that are known to help people cope with depression and anxiety.
John will lead you using a technique known as “Felt Sense Focusing” (a self-healing method) to heighten your appreciation of the emotional effects of each practice you will do in the workshop. He will also introduce mindfulness practices designed to help you work with negative thinking patterns that interfere with happiness and the calm enjoyment of life.
John is a Ph.D Clinical Psychologist with 25 years of experience working with clients. He is an adjunct faculty at Naropa University and a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor who has studied directly with BKS and Geeta Iyengar. He is known by students for his calm presence, sense of humor, and clear teaching style. |
